Well most moms love home made meals so you can start by getting up and making her breakfast and making dinner as well. You can also get her a card and some flowers, and besides most mothers know any gift is good because its the thought that counts.

Jewelry! Go to a craft store and purchase some nice beads. Preferably wooden ones to make your jewelry pretty. Use some nice string and if you find beads with letters on them, spell out your mother's name. I've done the same, and my mom loved it. but really, it's the thought that counts.

Be creative make her something. I'm a mother and little things that my child makes me is more special than something purchased from a store. I'm sure she will love it. Good luck

actually my band teacher suggested one :]
It's VERY VERY simple, and really fun too :D
Get a jar, at least 6 inches tall or so, not like a pill bottle, but like a jar. Make it look nice, maybe even paint it on the outside with flowers and such, I don't know. NO SPARE SOUPCANS.
So, print out, or write out, memories you had with your mom or any other family member. Cut it up into little strips, as in, have each memory on a separate piece of paper, and then put it in the jar. Don't crinkle it or anything, but just put it in the jar, and maybe design a top for the jar.
Here's the thing, when your mom is in the mood, she can pick out somer andom memory from the jar and then read it. Happy memories is the key point here.

sort skittles into colors and put them in a jar in rainbow order. go backwards so when you open it, you will have the rainbow. (so you would go purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red)

then tie a note around the jar that says you make every day brighter!
use colored ribbon to tie the note to the jar. you can also draw a rainbow on the note. hope you like this idea!

    Maybe some of these?

maybe you coyld dedicate the day to her? since its 'mothers day',

you could do some of her chores in the house? breakfast in bed? go to a movie together & let her pick? go to lunch or dinner? make dessert?

since you want to make something you could make a coupon book, with things you could do for your mom. this may sound a little kiddish, but the gift would be in your actions, rather than the physical present.

for christmas when i only had one present for my mom, for something extra, i did the dishes for my mom ( she really doesnt like doing dishes & there's no dishwasher :( )

Go and pick some fresh flowers from the garden and bring them to her with a hand-made card. But make sure you don't pick any flowers your mom is growing for something special. I picked the roses one year that my mom was growing for a contest in Mississippi at the county fair. Not good.
