It depends. For example, if you were really close with their mother and dated said girl for a long amount of time, than it would be really nice. For example, my brother broke up with his girlfriend of five years, and she sent me a card for my 19th birthday. It was very nice.

If you had a good relationship with her and she treated you like a son I think that would be a fantastic gesture. Doing this has nothing to do with your ex, it is just saying to her mother that you respect her and appreciate her. Go for it.
